"Sports also paying a price amid struggling economy" (Oldham)

An article written by: Michael McCarthy, USA TODAY

This article is interesting because it talks about how even the economy of sports is struggling. While I believe that is very true for a lot of new or low-budget sports, I'm not ready to concede to the notion quite yet. I believe ticket prices may drop, even though there have been no signs of it yet. I believe more people will buy better TV's (HD, flatscreen, or just bigger), and will be just as religious about their respective sports. It will drive up the market for sports games, and perhaps drop sales in tickets. However with the increase of price each year it doesn't seem that some teams appear to be hurting (ex: Yankees, Red Sox, Celtics).
It'll be interesting to see how the next year plays out in the economy of sports, but for now I wouldn't be too worried about it.
